All the parents I know want their children to be kind to each other and would love to eliminate sibling rivalry. While, I don’t think that sibling rivalry can be eliminated completely, I do believe that it can be reduced. When sympathy and genuine understanding is offered by parents, as well as teaching a child to recognize the needs of others and offer kindness, a discovery for that child happens. They discover that compassion and service make them much happier.
Largely they will learn kindness through the example of their parents, but I think stories can be a wonderful resource to open a child’s heart and mind to feeling compassion.
One of the first ways that children learn about care and service may be through kindness to creatures.

A great resource.
